Newer estates, sloping blocks and views
Many Bargara properties are on newer estates or on sloping land near the coast, and a good number are designed to make the most of a view. Builders often hand over a house with levelled dirt, little else and a driveway that stops at the garage. The first jobs are usually a patio, a path, some edging and a lawn.
Slopes bring their own demands. Water runs quickly across sandy ground and can wash soil from garden beds, so a low retaining wall, a terrace or a drain along the base can make the difference between a garden that stays put and one that slides. Wind exposure also affects fences, screens and pergolas, which need strong fixings. Planning levels early avoids tearing up new work later.
